Who I Am

I’m Dr Lyndre Diederichs. For much of my career, I believed that producing good research was enough. Like many researchers, I assumed that valuable scholarship would naturally find its way into the conversations, decisions, and communities where it could make a difference.

Over time, I realised that this rarely happens on its own. Not because the research lacks quality, but because meaningful impact depends on relationships, curiosity, opportunity, and intentional engagement.

My own journey has taken me through environmental and agricultural sciences, education and training, research, systems thinking, research management, and knowledge mobilization. Along the way, I became increasingly interested in a different question.

What allows academics’ scholarship to truly flourish?

I came to see research impact not as an endpoint to chase, but as one expression of something much deeper. When researchers have space to think creatively, meaningful collaborators, authentic connections with the people who care about their work, and practical ways to move ideas into action, scholarship begins to flourish. That is the work I now enjoy most.

I work with academics as a thinking partner, creative collaborator, and impact strategist, helping explore possibilities, shape ideas, and build practical pathways that allow scholarship to connect with the world beyond academia.

Because when scholarship flourishes, meaningful impact follows.

Philosophy

Research is often described in terms of outputs, metrics, and impact. These are important. But they are not where meaningful scholarship begins.

I believe impact emerges from healthy research ecosystems. Just as plants flourish when the conditions are right, scholarship flourishes when researchers have space to think, trusted collaborators, supportive institutions, meaningful engagement, and practical pathways that connect ideas with action.
